What exactly do the loops mean? Will they eventually join the rest of the dread? I have loops in about 90% of my dreads. And my thickest dread has about 4-6 loops in it. My dreads will be 1 year in october

yeah, those loops will eventually tighten up into the dread to some degree. most of mine are really tight against the dreads. let 'em go for a while and see how it progresses. :)

I know it differs from hair to hair, but ballpark - how long? 3 months? 6? And what about beads? I mean, I love my loops, but they don't always love me.
I like the no control, but I do have to be able to function in my classroom without the flat loops spinning off - I have to able to be somewhat taken seriously. (ha ha...until I get a full hire, that it...yak yak yak)

is this directed towards me? If so, i started my locks in october of last year. My hair was already about 10-14" long in the longest places. It was starting to separate a bit before we back combed it. It's now about 14-16" long in the longest place. I don't have any beads...i am fortunate enough to work in a place where I can have a hat. I like decorations in other people's hair, but they are not for me. I kind of want to put a big band around a congo i have going on in the back of my head. It's about 4 or 5 dreads combining...i just can't find anything to suit me or the situation :)

I love loops, just love 'em. I'm starting to get a few in the back, and some weird bends and kinks, I'm hoping I get tons--one crazy lock at the nape of my neck has turned into a sort of little swirly nest, it's awesome
