I love this, too. I love how beautiful and pure fresh snow makes everything look, and that hush... Good stuff.

Weird about the borrow/lend thing in England, too! I wonder why that is.

22. I seem to make sense of the world by touching things. I long to experience hot and cold, different textures, rough and smooth. I go to the British history museum and I feel the need to touch anything I can get my hands on. I think I feel like I soak up some of the history.

60. I love being in water.
61. I collect books.
62. I love snow.
63. I love the TV show Fringe.
64. I miss LOST. Benny Linus, mostly.

Think it's just a local laziness thing not a national one, at least I hope not.

I was born in September 1969, so I can say I am a child of the 60’s, even though I don’t remember any of it.
 I have 6 piercings.
I have 8 tattoos, 5 designed by myself.
I am on my 3rd set of locks over an approx 20yrs timeline. They get recycled. They’re collectively known as ‘Boris’.
I’ve always had dogs. My mum had her first dog the year before I was born. I liked the dog much better than the brother that came 3 years later... life without a dog sucks. The heartache of losing them is more than repaid by the joy they give.
I never wanted children, but I quite like them when they belong to someone else.
I suffer from food aversion, so textures of fruit and most veg really freak me out. I also can’t stand the smell of banana or fried eggs.
Despite the above, I can cook really well. (I’ve had proposals of marriage over my steak pie!)
I am learning to drive I’ve just got to the point where I’m getting a little overconfident a little too prematurely.
I’ve been known to put a horse over some jumps when the occasion arises.
1970’s horrible patterns on fabric and wallpaper will always have a space in both my heart and wardrobe .
My favourite treat is a bucket of chicken.
Other people have more faith in my abilities than I do.
I like to put glitter on cakes.
I use to drink (a lot) until I found out how much more fun recreational drugs are.
I have a surprise right hook so I’m a good wingman in a bar fight. (Although, if I’ve had a few beers, I can be quite gobby... there’s a possibility that I might well have instigated the argument in the first place.)
My musical taste can be highly dubious and contains a large cheese quotient.
I’ve got a 1980’s Bedford tk horsebox halfway through being converted into a camper van.
I keep a range of predatory fish, including an electric catfish called ‘eeek!’ it started with just a tank of death row goldfish and now there’s about a 1000 litres of water in the living room.
I really love strimming, and I’m really good at it. Give me a field and a sthil fs400 and I’m a happy bunny, want those lawn edges beautifully sculpted? I’m your girl.
I don’t cope with pressure well, but as I’m disorganised and easily distracted, I kinda have to live with it.
My nose has been broken 3 times.(1 punch, 1 bollard, 1 German shepherd head- butt)
Most cats owned at any one time are 6 (I don’t recommend it!)
When I was small I used to keep pussy willows in a matchbox and pretend they were baby mice.
I can’t play music, I wish I could but it just baffles me. Despite this I can (badly) play 2 tunes, which if you’re sneaky and you’ve got a good dog, you can busk off those two tunes all day.
I would like to build an underground house one day, but not one that looks like a hobbit hole, failing that, a good old nuclear bunker would be pretty cool too.
I’m rubbish at remembering people’s names. Everyone gets called chuck, darling or treacle.
My partner and I have been together for 5 years. We think this is because no-one else is stupid enough to deal with either of us! (Seriously though, we are each others ‘other half’ and could not imagine life without each other.)
I’m 19 years older than him (go girl! Cougar and proud!) This annoys him because I got to see all the bands he loves when they were at their best.
 Snow continues to amaze me.
If I didn’t think birds should fly free, then I would have a parrot, those guys rock.
I am arachnophobic. I am quite likely to go through you to avoid a spider being anywhere near me. I know they are not going to hurt me (on the whole) but they make me feel sick and panicky like nothing else. I don’t remember ever not being scared of them.
However, I quite like bugs, I’ve got a little colony of cockroaches that were meant to be food for the above mentioned fishes, but I like their little faces.
 My appendix has been removed...
So has a large ganglion cyst on my right wrist.
And I’m very short sighted. I really can’t see a damned thing without my glasses.
My favourite flowers are foxgloves and hollyhocks and fennel, all in a big overstuffed border.
do worry about bees. Without them we’re screwed and aside from all the pollinating, I would really miss honey. Plus they’re furry... nuff said.
Wasps however, I will not tolerate, especially when they’ve been on the fermented fruit and are like a bunch of lairy youths and being generally unpleasant or building nests in my house/truck.
I can’t believe this is only number 40...
I love watching street sports, but I’m dyspraxic, I can hurt myself getting up from a chair, let alone throwing a road bike around or trying a bit of parkour. Armchair appreciation is as far as it goes where sports are concerned.
...is how many birthdays I have had.
I don’t believe in gods, ghosts or aliens.
I used to be the house dominatrix in a fetish club. (only brave souls need apply though. I don’t play nice)
I once caused a car crash because an elderly gent was so busy staring at my ‘punk as fuck’ 15yr old, mohawked, self that he ran into the car in front. I helpfully called an ambulance though only his pride was hurt, thankfully.
I was bored and unstretched at school, which saddens me sometimes. (not that I would have been in any way some kind of genius otherwise, it just would have made the time spent there more interesting and fulfilling)
I don’t regret any of the choices I’ve made in life. It’s what you do with the rest of the journey that matters. What doesn’t kill you does make you stronger (...eventually)
Mud is good for you. I firmly believe every child should eat at least one mud pie during their childhood (see the above answer)
I will tell people to pick up their litter. There’s no excuse for leaving rubbish anywhere.
Drum and bass makes me dance.
Politically, I would like a ‘none of the above’ box to tick, so I can register my disapproval of the choices I’ve got currently and not have to indulge in tactical voting. This shit’s too important for playing silly games.
I can crochet but not knit, two sticks is obviously a stick to far!
My mother once dumped a very drunken father at my flat so she didn’t have to take him home... he caused utter carnage, vomited over everything and passed out. I stayed up 6 hours checking he was ok , gave him a stern telling off in the morning and a bag of washing to deal with. I was not impressed; mum thought it was terribly funny.
She also used to call my hair ‘dreadful-locks’ and think it was terribly funny, bless her.
Both of my parents are now deceased, so technically I’m an orphan.
As a teen Goth I used to suck my cheeks in to look more consumptive, these days, thanks to unethical 1970's dentistry, i have so few back teeth i no longer have to try.
The only jewellery I really wear apart from my piercings is a chain of Cornish silver, brought on holiday with my mum, and her wedding and engagement rings. I’ve got some really nice jewellery too, but I just don’t get round to wearing it very often.
I would have done just about anything to get my hands on tickets for Amon Tobin’s ISAM live show... The guy’s a genius in my opinion and seeing clips on you tube makes me go green with envy.
I think the legalisation of all drugs is inevitable; the war on drugs is already won. Taking the criminality out of the whole trade makes sense on every level.
I also think the principle of free speech is mightily important too, I might not like what you’ve got to say but I will defend you right to say it.
I like building sandcastles and dams in streams, or weaving barriers out of willow. I’m probably a frustrated land artist.
My father used to bring home all sorts of waifs and strays when we were younger, ducklings in the living room and magpies with lollypop splints on broken legs were not unusual, although he was always the man who said he didn’t really like animals.
I completed the first year of my degree in textiles, but financial issues made me drop out, (and I realised I was a printmaker, rather than an embroiderer) I keep meaning to finish it but life has a habit of getting in the way.
I like the way computers have made the world both bigger and smaller at the same time, I still remember when the idea of a home computer was considered to be of interest to a small minority of techie geeks and now I can surf the web on my mobile... bonkers!
 I like badly done taxidermy.
I spend too much time on the computer.
If I could be an animal I would be a cat, so that I could be wild when I wanted, and curled up in front of the fire when I feel a bit more domesticated. Cats get the best of both worlds.
I sometimes feel quite lonely, but as I’m also a fairly unsociable person anyway, I wonder if I need to worry about it, probably not.
One of my feet is half a size bigger than the other, getting comfy footwear is a nightmare.
A lifetime of manual work had left me with two frozen shoulders (...so not fun)
Bookman old style is my favourite font.
I love reading; I’ll even read the back of a cereal packet if there’s nothing else around. Favourite authors are William Gibson, chuck Palahniuk, Douglas coupland, frank Herbert, poppy z brite, john wyndham, terry pratchett and old sci-fi.
I’m the sort of person who always reads the manual before operating a new thing.
I have terribly expensive taste but a trash budget. Somehow I seem to get the two things to work.... if I can’t afford to gold leaf that table, I’m sure sweet wrappers and a couple of layers of varnish will do the trick if you don’t examine the workmanship to closely!)
No 74 gives me a valid reason for eating chocolate with pretty foil because I need the foil.
I’ve always been fascinated by anatomy, I have a collection of various animal bones in my ‘cabinet de mort’ where I keep my old pets ashes. My most prized being the skull of the first dog that was mine. His name is Bryn, and I can give him a little kiss every morning.
The year of punk, I was eight with little blonde pigtails and Clarkes shoes. I was obviously suitably impressed by the older kids outside the school gates. (I still have a soft spot for a crombie and a mohawk, with combat boots and high strength lager can)
I also have a terrible thing for Brian Moloko from placebo, which is fine because Mr. Mcgruff has one for Gwen Stefani.
i still have my leather jacket, brought at 16, second hand from an old biker, hangs on my studio wall, it has been lovingly hand painted and then lived the life of a stray tomcat, it’s battered and torn and battle scarred... reminds me that there are still causes to fight and battles to be won, and still smells of dangerous teenage adventures .. I will never wear it again but could not bear to part with it, it reminds me of when I had more balls that brains (plus the fact that I’ve worked hard and grown muscles since then, I’d never fit in to it now!
In my years between sets I have always felt 68% un-hotter than when I’ve had even really skanky dreads. This convinces me that skizz’s theory is true.
I have a furniture addiction, it’s under control, but I know it’s there. I’m a sucker for a nice piece, especially if I can get it cheap. Best buy so far? Gplan sideboard brought from a charity shop 20 yrs ago for a tenner... I found on eBay a couple of weeks ago for £295. (As a mine spent the last few years being an impromptu kitchen unit, mass cat feeding station and now has the decks and mixer on, I feel mine might be worth a little less than that!)
my black marble backed and topped Victorian washstand, picked up for £25 is my favourite though, as you can see little fossil and shell’s bits in it if you look closely.
As a child I was fascinated by dinosaurs, I still think they’re awesome... and petrified wood, how amazingly cool is that?
I don’t shave, mostly because I’m lazy, but also because as long as your lady garden, armpits (and even legs if you go that far) are otherwise clean then why shouldn’t they be furry? I’m not saying don’t give it a trim if you have an unruly lady garden, but I think the hair should be there. I am, after all a woman, not a girl, and I’d rather look like one if you don’t mind.
I do draw the line at the ‘witch’ whiskers that are appearing now, I don’t mind my wrinkles but I’m not having a witchy beard!
The year I left school, my parents offered me the uni route, but I wanted to get a job, earn some of my own money and have a bit more control over my life, as seen in No 63, I did eventually go, but I think the years between that I spent working, then studying, and just getting on in life were worth not taking the offer up. I don’t think at that stage I would have taken uni seriously after barely coasting through school, but I think my parents were disappointed none the less.
The year I became an apprentice hairdresser, 20 years ago it was all about blue rinse grannies still, but times were ‘a’ changing, and when our salon got its first shipment of crazy colour I was the first in there, no one could complain about the colour of my hair for a change, as it was totally work related! Hurrah!
Even though I live with Mr. Mcgruff, I still have my own tool box and power tools. When I left home my mum had already taught me how to housekeep, so my dad brought me my own tools and taught me how to use them. I think this was quite important for a girl living on her own, as it made me more independent and I could fix up all the shitty bedsits I was living in to make them more habitable, plus it meant he had more time to ride his motorbike instead of having to plumb something for me or rewire something. (Sneaky, dad!)
One of my earliest memories is of taking my baby brother out of his pram and putting him on the floor and getting in and snuggling up for a little sleep in MY pram. I was rudely awakened by my horrified mother and given a stern telling off.
I can’t wear purple or bottle green; they make my skin look really sallow.
 1. The year I signed on the dole and I discovered dance music. A summer of love it surely was and is a blurry haze of mashed up party going in huge warehouses and massive fields and hearing some of the best music ever. it changing my perceptions about a lot of things I had taken for granted or not even considered, I went feral travelling from party to party with a couple of friends and when I eventually returned home, because hairdressing was not my top priority that summer, I had my first set of baby locks. That set stayed in for the next 10 years. This is also the year I moved out of home properly.
The year I got my first dog that was mine, and not the family dog. He was beautiful, staffie x whippet, super clever, loads of joi de vrie, and not an unpleasant bone in his body. He was my bestie mate for 17 years and he taught me a shitload more than I taught him about so many things. He was a true star and wise beyond his years.
I’ve tried to like jazz, but it doesn’t do it for me, sorry.
Don’t believe someone when they tell you their hamster does not bite, I was a veterinary nurse for 10 years, trust me... they all bite; it’s just a question of how hard.
I will never, never work in a call centre ever again. I can think of lots of degrading jobs, but even sucking cock for cash can’t leave you feeling as dirty as working a customer service adviser role for a bank.
(Exception to no. 47) smoking... I really, really enjoy it, especially the bit where you ‘feel’ the smoke when you have a drag. This will eventually kill me. I know it’s something I need to do something about but I am going to miss it so much. I love having a fag.
Coffee. If you take it off me I will wither and die.
I like doing no.97 and no.98 together...preferably in a field in front of a big fat function 1 system, monster speaker stack and heaving crowd, with Mr.mcgruff and my lovely dogs... all giving it some large and disturbing your rural peace for a couple of days.
You all know way too much about me now, I feel kinda naked, but in a good way.
