*the other side being whichever side you are not on. :)

The discussion over here about "bangs" versus "fringe" was ummm sort of inspiring. Thought there should be a topic devoted to this sort of thing.

My very favourite is ending a list of steps with, "and Bob's your uncle" (which is sort of like saying, "and that's that" for the rest of us on this side of the pond). I have no idea who Bob is, so to me it's hilarious because it just seems so bloody random...

i love cockney slang, it makes me smile. it's funny though, whenever i go back to visit, when i come back i have unwittinly picked up a slight accent (which normally comes out only when i'm really drunk, or really angry... either way when i'm pissed.... lol.... HAHA, that was funny, right that down) and am using all the british "isms" for everything. but even after that has "worn off" i stil use a lot of british terms in every day life.

quick example... "cheers" and "mate" are a constant part of my everyday vernacular.

Dodgy. I love using the word dodgy and trying to explain it to others.

Oh, and "can't be arsed" amused my Canadian friends when I said it once, apparently it was "very British of me".

Chavs are either wiggers or your trailer trash sort of affair.

What's racist?
*****

I know there are several differences but I tend not to really focus on them, unless saying something in the company of others might get completely misunderstood... like saying "fanny."

my asking if the definition of chav was the same as wigger, apparently. we don't have chavs in america, so i'm asking if it's the same idea.
